STOKE - SNAKE ISLAND SALVAGE: Bio
STOKE
STOKE recorded their self-titled debut album in 2000, and released it in early 2001. Lauded by 'Unrestrained' magazine as 'skilled musicians who can rock out like there's no tomorrow,' the three-piece outfit logged numerous live shows.
In addition to the crunching rock of their debut, STOKE crafted a smouldering, grooving sound for more intimate venues. This more simmering side of the band was captured on their second record, a live CD entitled 'Atizar,' released in 2003.
Now the band is set to deliver its second studio album. Both dark and explosive, a blend of fury and flair, it will further define the sound that STOKE likes to call blacknblues.
Blacknblues
The name 'STOKE' comes from an old Brian Wilson instrumental. The tune (actually entitled 'Stoked), is a blend of 12 bar blues and surf twang.
As for the STOKE sound, it's a bit like a Cuban hotrod. Built on an old chassis, but full of cannibalized parts.
Snake Island Salvage
Blacknblues proprietor ACM, from his porchlike perch overlooking a ramshackle riffyard of musical parts and pieces, wishes to announce the formation of a new musical enterprise known as the Snake Island Salvage Company.
"I'll see if I can get some of this stuff up and running," said ACM dubiously. "It may not be slick, but it will hopefully be durable, and it might have a bit of style as well."
